Children Photography Books

What’s the best way to learn how to use a DSLR camera?

My husband just ordered me a Canon Rebel XS for Christmas that I will be using to replace an Olympus Point & Shoot. I don’t really have time to take a Photography Class because I have children & I’m pregnant & my husband works hours that wouldn’t allow for me to do that. Should I be able to learn everything about the features & how to use it with the manual it comes with or is there some kind of book or DVD I should buy?

First let me say I own the Rebel XS and it’s an excellent camera – but unless you know how to use a
dslr you’d might as well have a point and shoot. It appears you’re already aware of that and that’s a good thing – you’re taking your first steps toward good technical quality.

There are lots of little things you can do right away… things I’ve already done with my camera that I’ll be glad to tell you about but they’re too detailed to discuss here. If you’re interested in some of the things I’ve done with my camera: jimmya43@cox.net. These are things the manual shows you how to do but won’t tell you what the benefits will be.

Good Luck.
