If you are used Ubuntu 10.10 on your computer, Ubuntu Software Center, come with Ubuntu 10.10 – the Maverick Meerkat – released in October 2010 and supported until April 2012. Ubuntu Software Center is a virtual catalog of thousands of free applications and other software to make your Ubuntu computer more useful.
Here, I go to install some photography tools on my ubuntu 10.10 to learn about photography on linux. Below, 5 Photography Tools You Might Install on Ubuntu 10.10:
1. digiKam
digiKam is an advanced digital photo management application for Linux, Windows, and Mac-OSX. The people who inspired digiKam’s design are the photographers like you who want to view, manage, edit, enhance, organize, tag, and share photographs under Linux systems.
2. RawStudio
Rawstudio is an open-source program to read and manipulate RAW images from most digital cameras. Rawstudio will convert your RAW files into JPEG, PNG or TIF images which you can then print or send to friends and clients.
It has a graphical user interface, so you can simply open a RAW file and experiment with the controls to see how they affect the image. Rawstudio has a very simple architecture which is optimized for ease of use and therefore should be intuitive to most photographers.

3. kFickr
Kflickr is an easy to use photo uploader for flickr written for KDE.
KFlickr offers many features such as:

4. KPhotoAlbum
KPhotoAlbum is a tool which you can use to easily sort your images. It provides many capabilities to make sorting and viewing images easy. KPhotoAlbum supports all the normal image formats including raw formats produced by most digital cameras and scanners (using dcraw to do the decoding). It is also possible to use the thumbnails embedded in raw images (that are usually of decent size and quality) for fast viewing so there is no need to decode the whole raw image.
